Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy/tPEMF

Following an initial consultation with Dr. Ilana, it may be determined that a program of Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy is recommended for your pet as part of his/her overall treatment plan.

Below we describe what it is and list the many benefits that this treatment can offer your pet.

The Benefits of Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy is gaining traction as an innovative, non-invasive treatment that uses targeted pulsed electromagnetic fields – also known as tPEMF – to assist your pet’s body to activate its own recovery response to inflammation or injury. Although it is considered by some to be a ‘new’ therapy, it has been used widely by European professionals for decades, and the underlying technology is actually based upon the Tesla Coils of the 1890s. When used for pain management or relief, tPEMF does not require the use of drug therapy and is safe to use on most patients, including pregnant and senior pets.

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy may also be performed with an Assisi Loop, a battery-operated portable device that was initially approved by the FDA as far back as 1979 for use in stimulating bone growth. The loop, and other similar portable devices, is especially effective in targeting specified areas for pain reduction and extending range of motion, and may also be used for pets with osteoarthritis, those recovering from surgery, and in wound healing. Dr. Ilana will be offering these devices for sale through A Well Adjusted Pet or can recommend where to purchase them online.

tPEMF treatments are recommended to help in the following ways:
  • Reduction of pain, inflammation, stress on the body, and platelet adhesion
  • Improvement in energy, circulation, blood pressure and cholesterol levels
  • Improvement in your pet’s range of motion
  • Improvement in blood and tissue oxygenation
  • Assists in improvement in sleep quality
  • Promotes the development of a better immune system
  • Accelerates repair of bone and soft tissue
  • Relaxes muscles

We carry and recommend the Assisi Loop®

The Assisi Loop, an FDA-cleared NPAID (Non-Pharmaceutical Anti-Inflammatory Device), is a first-line and adjunct therapy for managing persistent pain and inflammatory conditions. The Loop offers a new approach to inflammation reduction, the critical first step in the healing process, and is effective for a variety of conditions, both acute and chronic. It uses targeted pulsed electromagnetic field (tPEMF™) technology, which has been demonstrated through laboratory testing to have a proven effect on the known biochemical and cellular mechanisms of action related to inflammation, with results published in peer-reviewed journals.

Assisi’s signal is specifically configured to target the nitric oxide (NO) signaling pathway—100% of its dose enhances NO signaling, with no extraneous side effects. No other tPEMF signal has been purposefully configured in this manner. As a result, other tPEMF devices deliver lower doses to the NO pathway and cannot reduce pain or inflammation as rapidly or effectively as the Assisi Loop.

This product is an excellent stand-alone treatment but it is also an effective adjunct to in-clinic treatments such as chiropractic, acupuncture, and laser. Many of our clients are particularly grateful to have an effective in-home treatment option for their pets. The Assisi Loop is portable, affordable, and easy to use.
